I read with interest the previous review about John Young ward regarding the individuals who scream and shout the whole night keeping others awake. My mum was taken into John Young ward on 13 January this year. Unbeknownst to myself, my sister and my dad, my mum had a horrible fast moving degenerative brain disease. From walking into the hospital mid January, my mum was one of the people referred to above as screaming and shouting all night within 2 weeks. This was due to her condition which meant that she had hallucinations frequently which may I say would scare her primarily as well as us, her family. She was only 68. My mum had the best treatment we could have asked for in John Young ward. The nurses, consultants, general staff including those who delivered food were quite honestly fantastic and we could not have asked for better care. The respect they showed with my Mum's rare condition was touching. Mum passed away on the ward on 11 February and I would not hesitate to recommend this hospital and ward in terms of dignity and care to anybody.
