My daughter was admitted to QA hospital on Friday25th July after a fall in which she broke her elbow in 4 places. She was advised she would have an operation for the fracture sometime that evening. She did not receive her operation that day, in fact it was cancelled on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday, after having nothing to eat prior to the operation. She had her operation on Tuesday, the arm could not be plastered as she had fracture blisters which needed to heal first. I wonder if the operation was carried out on the Friday these blisters would not have occurred. A doctor came to see her and said he was amazed she had not had her operation and would do everything to speed things up. When I phoned D7 (the ward she was in) to ask if she was back from surgery was told that type of op was not carried out on D7? I was then put through to D6 and she was back on the ward. I feel if she was in the wrong ward was she in fact overlooked. I cannot fault the nursing staff or the Doctor who did the operation but somewhere along the line something really neglectful happened. Because of the delay she now cannot go on holiday with her family. She did not see a doctor until that one called to see her since she was admitted on the Friday. I should like it to be known that we are very unhappy with the treatment received and would like it to be recorded.
