I'm disgusted, my partner is a support worker and had to rush a service user to the hospital, in a disabled work van and the blue badge in the window, which you can clearly see in the picture parking eye have got. So tell me why he has been given a £70 fine, we have appealed it and they are still saying we have to pay it. What the hell is the point of using a blue badge, in an emergency !!! Please advise.

Dear Reviewer I am sorry to learn your partner has received a parking charge notice as a result of a visit to Samuel Johnson Community Hospital. As of 2 April 2013 all blue badge holders now have to pay for parking on all of our sites. We do have a scheme where a blue badge holder can register their blue badge with the car parking office and this allows up to 30 minutes extra free on top of the 20 minutes that everyone is given automatically, so in total you would receive 50 minutes free parking before you have to pay. If you wish to challenge your appeal please liaise with ParkingEye, who will advise you of the next stage which is to take your appeal to POPLA an independent organisation. ParkingEye will provide you with the appropriate information. If you need any assistance or wish to discuss this matter further, then please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) Team on 01283 593110. PALS staff are available to help between 09:00 and 16:30 hrs Monday to Friday. Kind regards PALS team
