"ICU - 100% in every area. Nurses ..."

About: St Mary's Hospital (Newport)

(as the patient),

What I liked

ICU - 100% in every area.

Nurses - Awesome

Doctors - Good, if somewhat eccentric

Equipment - Great [I was hooked up to somewhere in the region of £250000 worth of lifesupport and other than going beep every 20 seconds, which sends you crazier than the pethedine, it was A1]

Bed - Very clever, but moved my arse around too much to get comfy, requested they gave me an old fashioned mattress that didn't go bump in the night and they got me one - top drawer!

Clocks - Analogue - one needs a 24hour clock when one doesn't know one's arse from an hole in the ground. Day or night is all the same in ICU.

...moved to 'another ward' shall not say which one as it was badly understaffed due to the New Year holidays and was staffed mostly with bank staff.

It was bloody freezing cold, the food was bad, the nurses a million miles away from, well just a million miles away and I saw a doctor once...

Discharged myself.

What could be improved

Corridors freezing.

But let's put this into perspective, in any other country i'd have been presented with a bill for a quarter of a million bucks to have my life saved.

And they did save my life and I will be eternally grateful - especially the nurses in intensive care - saints on earth the lot of them.

Anything else?

Thanks, really.
