"TRAQs adds delay"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

1 happy with GP service as knew at that point where I wished to go next so TRAQS did not add value.

2 In fact, there was a delay of over a week from GP to my contacting TRAQS as I had not heard anything from them.

3 The suggested wait of 12 weeks for the hospital to make contact is farcical – working days should be the norm.

4 overall, feel that TRAQS just adds an extra delay to the process

Thank you for providing feedback on your recent referral.

TRAQS was established with the aim of providing patients with a choice of location and a convenient date/time for their appointment. TRAQS can only process your referral from the date it is received from your GP - this may the the cause of the delay you refer to.. TRAQS has no control over waiting times for appointments; we offer a choice of location in order to secure the earliest possible appointment and reduce delays where possible.

All NHS processes need to be properly mapped to identify unnecessary steps. In this instance if the GP had the basic information needed he/she could refer direct thus saving the delay and costs involved in running a separate organisation.
