"Didn't want to treat me - ended up in surgery!"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

I have already sent a letter of complaint and was promised a follow up and two months later no word. I was taken in to a+e by my wife, with severe back pain (I've had back pain before and been hospitalised, I only go in when it is the last resort and I can no longer feel my leg) and was laughed at by the doctors telling me it was just sciatica, I was forgotten about when the doctor went home after promising me he would be back in twenty minutes and an hour and a half later the new doctor tells us she knew nothing of us, I was told to go home with morphine, apparently they can't do any work on bank holidays because there are no specialists there (this was the most maddening as I love to be told this continuously while I'm suffering), my wife was spoken to very rudely by various nurses that we have sent in the names of, and due to the negligence of the nurses and doctors on the ward I nearly died from the amount of pain I was in before they realised that I did need help and then rushed me to Sheffield for surgery. This hospital is a joke. I dread to think what would have become of me if I had not been sent to Sheffield. I just want a response, in letter, to my complaint of two months ago and the appropriate people notified of what is going on in the hospitals. It has been two months and to hear nothing but a letter promising me my case would be seen within 28 days, which it hasn't, is disgraceful. I have suffered at the hands of the doctors and practitioners in this hospital, there is no level of care and the doctors and nurses seem to sit around at their stations discussing their days, believe me, my bed was right next to their station at one point (they like to move you around daily in the same wards with no consequence, no matter how much pain it causes) and there are far too many of them who do nothing. I expect a response soon, and not just a reply to this, or I will have to take further action.

Dear Sev, Whilst you say that you do not only want a response on this site to the complaint raised above, we just wanted to acknowledge that we have seen the post and will ensure that this is passed on to our PALS department for attaching to your complaint letter. We will see to it that you receive a response as requested as soon as possible. Thank you.
