"Waiting for a scan for severe abdominal pain"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I was sent to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in King's Lynn to be seen by a gynaecologist who was abrupt, rude and belittling. I was sent for a scan to be checked for cysts on my ovaries, but the consultant dismissed the idea, leaving me in pain.

I was then passed onto the surgical team to be checked for bowel problems, which they claimed was definitely a gynae problem.

So I was left waiting around even longer, waiting (or thought I was) to see a gynae to be told I wasn't and that I wasn't going to be scanned now as it wasn't done after 19:00.

Great. I had been there since 13:30 to be told this at 20:00. I had more waiting to see a dr, who eventually turned up at 22:45 to tell us there was no guarantee of getting a scan the next day and was going to discharge with some pain relief and to wait for an appointment to go to outpatient.

Thank you for your comments on your experience as a patient at this hospital. I am sorry that this was obviously a very unsatisfactory day for you and that we did not work well together to try and sort out your difficulties. I would be grateful if you could contact me either by telephone or email so that I can follow up your case with the teams concerned. I hope that you now have a satisfactory plan in place to address your problem of abdominal pain.
