"Unbearable Heat"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

Having recently been in attendance with my sister during the birth of her child, I feel I must comment on the unbelievable heat within the maternity ward. Whilst the Unit is in the process of being refurbished it seems extremely short sighted of the planners not to include air conditioning. The heat hits you as you enter into the newly refurbished reception area and triage. The Triage rooms are stifling with no windows and are very small. Also the Midwives (who are all excellent) are working in very stifling, difficult conditions as they were obviously extremely (if not overly) busy, to the point where sweat was dripping off them. There were insufficient fans to go around the patients on the labour ward resulting in very difficult conditions for patients and there birthing partners.
