"Very happy with inguinal hernia repair"

I attended Cobalt as a day case in February 2014 for a hernia repair. My GP had given me some options on where to go for the procedure, and I chose Cobalt, partly due to the short waiting list. It was my first operation under general anaesthetic, so I was quite worried about it, although the professionalism of every member of staff I encountered at Cobalt really helped to put me at ease. In fact I surprised myself at how relaxed I was immediately prior to the operation. Due to a potential complication, I had previously met the anaesthetist for a consultation, and he carefully went through my medical history, took time to explain what would happen on the day, and advised on the preparation I needed to do prior to operation, such as not drinking alcohol, when to have my last meal, etc. The operation itself was a very tidy job and I've been back at the gym, running etc, for a while now, with no problems other than a very occasional minor "twinge" from the area of the hernia. I liked the attention to detail at Cobalt, such as the provision of information leaflets before and after the operation, the medications and clean dressings I needed being ready for me and explained properly to me on departure, and a call from the nurse the following day to check on me. I feel lucky to have been given the option of treatment at Cobalt and it would be my preferred choice for any similar sort of procedure in the future. One tip for anyone having this operation, is not to underestimate the recovery time. Although the post-operative pain wasn't too bad at all, I did have discomfort for I think around 6 weeks. So although I went back to my office job after 3 weeks, I did get a little discomfort sitting for long periods.
