"Very impressed with my treatment"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

I was admitted in May after feeling ill for weeks but hesitated going ton my doctor as I do not like or trust them but my husband took the decision from me, made an appointment and before I knew it I was being driven to hospital. From the moment I was seen in A and E, approx 5 minutes after arriving my treatment was superb, from A&E to Clinical Diagnostics Unit to Ward 7B I can not fault any of the Doctors, Nurses, Auxilliary Nurses, Domestic Staff I was treated with dignity and the best medical care I have ever experienced. I even ate the food that I had chosen (for me this was a mirical) as I am a very fussy eater. My only complaint is the time it takes the Pharmacy to get the prescribed medication up to the wards so that the patient can go home, for me it was 5.30 pm before I could leave, I had been waiting since 10.30 am, the nurse in charge continuously chased the Pharmacy but to no avail, this is one department which let's the hospital down. We were thinking of moving to another County BUT I cannot take the chance of having a bad Respiratory Consultant or Department hence our decision to stay in a Lincolnshire BUT if I have to be rushed in again I will only go to The Pilgrim Well done all of you for making me feel better than I did and for all your care and support.

Dear Jane

Thank you for your lovely and much appreciated comments, the staff will be so pleased that they were able to provide care which made something you were dreading into an experience that has renewed your confidence in health care and the staff who work endlessly to ensure the patient is cared for well. I hope that your recovery is complete and that you will not our services in the near future, but it is nice to know that you feel confident to come back to us again if needed.

Dear Mrs Parsloe

Thank you for your kind comments about your treatment at Pilgrim hospital. I am sorry that you felt that our pharmacy service let you down on this occasion. I have checked our records which show that your medication was dispensed, checked and ready for collection at 11:47am on Thursday 1 May. The doctor completed your discharge letter at 1:11pm the same day. I am afraid I cannot explain why you then had to wait until 5:30pm before you could leave.

We try to ensure that medication is dispensed as quickly as possible for all patients but our turn-around times do vary depending on the amount of work we receive in the dispensary. We continually review and re-prioritise our work-list during the day to respond to urgent requests etc.

Thank you for highlighting your concerns as a patient as we always review these to see if we can improve our service.

Best wishes

Andy Latty

Deputy Chief Pharmacist
