My husband was admitted to Ward 10 last week, owing to breathing difficulties. On Tuesday they took him to Harefield Hospital to have a stent put in, to relieve his breathing. He was woke up at 6o/c,as they were collecting him at 7o/c. He was given breakfast and a coffee. When he arrived at Harefield, he was asked if he had eaten anything, when he told them, he had been given breakfast, they were not happy, Surely nurses should know, if a patient is being given anaesthetic they should not give them anything. So his procedure had to be delayed, till later. In the afternoon, I had a phone call, from a member of staff,in the L and D asking to speak to my husband, when I told them he was a patient in the L and D, they said sorry, I did not realise he was an inpatient. This I find worrying, to be attending to a patient, and giving medication, and not know they are there. Also, before he was collected to go to Harefield, he used one of the cardboard urinals, and placed it beside his bed, and at 7o/c in the evening when he arrived back, it was still there. Is this what they consider Health and Safety. He was sent home on Wednesday, and given medication, when we arrived home, I checked the bag, and found three types of medication missing. I had to phone the hospital, and was told to phone back in half hour, which I did, and was told they had found them on the ward. I had to arrange for my son to go after work, and collect them. He was sent down to St Marys departure lounge, and then sent back to Ward 10. What a complete mess up. To be honest I was pleased when they said he could go home. This hospital should take a few lessons from Harefield Hospital.
