Following a meeting with my mum's new social worker we were referred to OT. The letter was sent to my mum's address and not to me as it should have been. It promised referral within 10 weeks.
As I was not contacted within this timescale, I contacted social work on the email address featured in the letter. This apparently was incorrect and for another department.
A frustrated OT called me the other day to say that my email had only just been forwarded and why did I think an appointment was overdue? It appears the client letters are sent out by a team that has nothing to do with OT. A 10 week referral is apparently only available to people with severe mobility problems or a terminal illness.
Why raise false expectations by sending letters offering unrealistic referral dates? You are creating a lose-lose situation.
