I have just had a pre-op assessment in the gynae clinic for a minor investigation. I was greeted with a smile when I booked in, which was done efficiently. The waiting area was spacious and clean. I was seen early as I had arrived before my appointment, by a lovely lady who took me through the many questions efficiently, while giving me time to explain stuff where needed. My notes from a previous op at WGH were on the system so she could refer to them, as were details of my appointments and treatments so far. This was very useful to us. Tests that needed to be done were explained, and were taken quickly and with consideration for my dignity and comfort. All the time I was with her, this nurse chatted to me and made me feel at ease, we even had a laugh or two. At the end of the assessment she wished me good luck and I was given lots of leaflets to read. Being treated like this while awaiting investigations for a possibly serious illness makes all the difference. Although I don't remember her name, I hope that you will be able to thank her for her kindness.
