"Chemo"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

We have been so impressed by the treatment so far, including A&E during Chemo. Until an overnight stop in Winter Ward. The staff were fantastic however a lot of the other patients should not of been there, they clearly had "Special needs" and took up all the time of the poor nurses. Everything we have experienced up to this point had been pro active but Winter ward is reactive, the poor overworked staff just putting out fires instead of stopping them start in the first place.

It's brilliant to read about your overall experience in hospital and A&E as it is a highly pressured time for us at the moment as we are moving from an old medical and patient records system which relies a huge amount on paper records to an electronic patient record which is causing some delays as staff have to spend a large proportion of their time getting used to the new systems. The staff on Winter Ward will be pleased to read your comments about their attitude, but clearly you could see how much pressure they were under. The ward specialises in Endocrinology and Acute Medicine and so there is sometimes a sense of reactivity in this kind of care, however I will ensure I pass on your comments as the staff do always intend to promote a restful, therapeutic and calm environment. Thank you.
