"Successful thyroid operation - thank you"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (King's Lynn)

Following both heart and thyroid issues recently, a conclusion was made that I needed to have both a heart and thyroid operation, however, a decision for which operation I should have first, had to be made. I was 100% involved in the decision making between both the heart and the thyroid consultants as to which operation needed to be done first. I was also kept fully informed of the risks involved, together with their decisions regarding the 'before and aftercare' that I would receive. On the morning of my operation was a time of great anxiety for me, but the theatre teams were brilliant. I knew that I was going to be placed on the Critical Care Unit and again, the care I received on this ward was fantastic. I will be forever grateful to all teams involved, nothing was too much trouble. I would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone for the 'before and aftercare' I have received. Thank you so very much.

Thank you for taking the time to recount your experience of care on the NHS Choices site. I am very glad that you had such a positive experience at what must have been a very worrying and difficult time for you personally. It is very reassuring to hear that you felt fully included in all the decisions that had to be made and were well supported through your surgery and in your period of recovery. I will ensure that all the teams involved are made aware of your comments and thanks. I hope that you continue in your recovery and remain in good health.
