"Experience of care at good hope hospital"

My husband had been unable to get out of bed for five days due to ongoing leg and back pain, unable to stand in fact without being in extreme agony. GP was called out and he was given an injection and advised me that he would phone me back in an hour to see if pain had subsided, if not he would write me a letter advising that he needed an MRI scan at hospital.

The pain did not subside so an ambulance was called with the letter from the GP referring him to hospital. Paramedics arrived and spent an hour administering morphine, paracetamol and entinox before they could attempt to move him because of the pain. When we arrived at Good Hope he was taken to a cubicle where he was asked relevant questions about his pain. He was then wheeled out of the cubicle into the corridor where a consultant did an examination in the corridor. God alone knows why he was put into the corridor as there were more than three empty cubicles. It was decided that he would be kept in overnight and an MRI done the following day. Only the following day absolutely nothing was done. No MRI, no x ray, nothing. The only thing that was done was he was encouraged to walk which put him in extreme agony only to have to be given more morphine because of the pain of walking and he was duly sent home in exactly the same state as he went in.

As I am writing this he is lying in bed in agony still unable to move or stand up. I am absolutely disgusted at the treatment, or lack of treatment, that has been given and would like to know why this has happened. He cannot be expected to just lie in bed for the rest of his life. Why was an MRI not done while he was actually at the hospital. They said he will be seen at out patients but my question is how does he get to out patients when he cannot get out of bed? I am totally appalled at the lack of concern or anything being done at all and someone needs to tell me why this has happened.
