I was (reluctantly) taken by an incredible ambulance service to A & E at Epsom, the stroke service area where I received immediate and excellent care with dignity/respect. A specialist nurse was in attendance and specialist sister and consultant attended the area. I was (again reluctantly) admitted to Brittan Ward where I received such kind, respectful, care and attention from every single member of staff I interacted with, including porters, cleaners and food operatives (?!). I had a CT, Doppler, MRI all easily within 24 hrs. I was in a four bedded single sex area and we were constantly attended by nursing staff. There was designated pharmacy and physio. The consulant and his team were frequently on the ward and always available. I noticed that all areas were very clean and care was taken over the management of facilities. I wrote the word 'reluctantly' earlier in this critique simply because my last experiences was of private hospitals. I need not have had any fears. I found this Unit has very high standards and I was grateful for the care.
