I've been under a doctor for several years for chronic pain treated by Radio Frequency which has been fairly successful until recently when my body has decided it doesn't want to respond as well. Initially I had lovely treatment when being operated on, the accommodations was as a private patient would expect just with longer waiting time on the day but I was comfortable. Since then I had several operations where I was left for hours in pain because they couldn't provide a bed only a chair while waiting several hours for my operation, in one case I was in so much pain I ended up lying on the floor of the cubicle using my bag of clothes to rest my head on as there was only a chair in the cubicle and although the nurse tried to speed things up I wasn't asked what would help ease the pain and they didn't think to bring a trolley bed in to the large cubicle. On that occasion the assessment form I was asked to fill in wasn't followed up! Having said all of that the last time I was operated on ran so much smoother. I had hardly any waiting time and the service afterwards was very good. They still only provide a chair to wait in pre operation but because it's much quicker I'm not in pain for as long. The operating team have always been excellent and most of the nursing staff are compassionate and very helpful. Overall this is a good hospital and I have seen improvements made and am happy to continue being seen here. I would give them 3.5 stars as there are still improvements to be made in both the comfort side of things and information about when you need to attend on operation day although the last bit I think is down to NHS contracts department and not the hospital so as long as you call to confirm what time to attend on operation day you won't have such a long wait.
