"Fantastic care and support"

About: Friarage Hospital Site

My partner was brought into A&E having collapsed following a race, then spent 48 hours in ITU and 24 hours on Romanby ward before being discharged. I cannot thank all the staff in A&E, ITU and the Romanby ward enough for looking after him, working out what had happened to him (which wasn't what we'd thought), and supporting me when we were a long way from home. Every person we met, from the night receptionist, to nurses, doctors and consultants was brilliant, explaining clearly what was happening, answering all my questions, and bringing me tea when I needed it. Clark House was also a godsend for me, it meant I could be on site and didn't have to find a B&B at a time when I wasn't really up to it. Thank you again. You made what was a horrible time bearable.

Thank you for your comments regarding the care, treatment and support you and your partner received from the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, following your partner's collapse. I shall certainly forward your kind words to all staff involved and I am sure they will be very pleased to read them. It may interest you to know the trust runs a ‘Thank You Award’ scheme where NHS colleagues, patients and relatives can nominate staff in recognition of their work. These are presented throughout the year for acts above the call of duty or where staff have shown exceptional kindness towards patients and their relatives. Please contact the chairman’s office on 01642 854151 or email deborah.jenkins@stees.nhs.uk, should you wish to pursue this. Many thanks again for your kind words With best wishes for your partner's recovery Mrs Linda Oliver Patient Experience Co-ordinator
