"Service is unfit for purpose"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

No appointment received, no explanation why my request was ignored. After visiting my GP, he referred me to the Community Podiatry Service. I am ninety years of age and I have had both my hips replaced. This makes the job of cutting my toe nails extremely difficult so I was pleased at the prospect of some help. I like to work and anything that will keep me. After six months of waiting, I made enquires as to why there was such a delay. Apparently I had been referred back to my GP, but no one bothered to tell me…

I feel there is some age discrimination at work here. I find your service unfit for purpose. What else can I say? I have waited so long for absolutely nothing and no I have to begin with the procedure again. I am thoroughly disgusted.

We are very sorry to hear about your disappointment and frustration regarding your podiatry referral.

Due to the anonymous nature of patient opinion I am unable to comment on your referral and reason as to why it was returned back to your GP Practice. Nevertheless, whenever TRAQS re-directs a referral back to a GP Practice for any reason, it is up to the GP Practice to contact the patient to advise and to discuss the next steps to take.

If you wish to contact the TRAQS team on 01952 580 441 we would be more than happy to have a look into this for you. Alternatively, you can contact your GP Practice who will also be able to advise you as to why your initial referral was rejected and to discuss the next steps to take.
