Had an operation to remove a tumor from my neck. On the operation day i reported to the admissions lounge. The staff were very friendly and reassuring. I met the anesthetist and the registrar. After this i was given my own room with a tv and comfy chair to wait for my operation. My operation was delayed slightly, but these things can't be helped. The surgeon aplogised for this which i thought was nice as they didn't have too. After my surgery i was put onto ward F9. Right from the beginning the nurses were very caring and attentive. Asking if i needed anything. The ward was spotless. I have never seen a hospital so clean. One morning i was there a drop of blood spilled onto my sheets and the floor. As soon as this was noticed the floor was cleaned and my sheets changed. I had a drain attached to my neck so found moving around challenging. The staff did all they could to assist me and even offered to help me change my clothes. I think this is going the extra mile and is something ive never seen in a hospital before. There was also a nice lounge you could go to with a big tv and the staff encoraged you to go for a walk. One night i couldn't clear my throat due to the operation which was keeping me awake. One of the nurses patted my back like a baby and it did the trick. Thankyou. I hope other hospitals copy wythenshaws way of working. Thanks to everyone on ward F9.
"Superb hospital. Ward F9 Staff are a real credit..."
