"We've lost your referral so go to the bottom of..."

About: St Helier Hospital

GP faxed a referral letter to St Helier dermatology on 6th May regarding skin cancer. Didn't hear anything so telephoned them on 20th June only to be told that they couldn't find the referral letter. They suggested that after waiting nearly seven weeks, I should ask the GP to send another letter and I would then go to the bottom of the list and expect to wait at least another 12 weeks! GP made another referral, to St. Georges this time and as of 11th July still haven't heard from them either. Perhaps they have lost the referral letter. A disorganised, chaotic shambles.

We are very sorry to hear this, and appreciate just how frustrating any delay would be during this worrying time. We aim to provide all of our patients with a high level of compassionate care in a timely fashion. To help us investigate your referral, could I please ask you to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 020 8294 2508 or email pals@esth.nhs.uk?
