After developing Obstetric Cholestasis at 27 weeks of pregnancy, I became a regular visitor to MCU for weekly blood tests and observations. I cannot thank the team on the unit enough. They were always friendly and made me feel that I was in good hands despite usually being incredibly busy. We couldn't have asked for a better experience when our daughter was born by c-section at 37 weeks. Although I was nervous, I felt completely confident in the team that looked after us and again I can't thank you enough. Only a couple of small grumbles, the first I'm not sure you could do anything about it. It was ridiculously hot on Kent and Pearl ward and not enough fans to keep cool. I was very uncomfortable with the heat and not sure it's very safe when recovering from major surgery and trying to care for a newborn. My second gripe was that when I was taken for my first shower, the member of staff helping me had forgotten to bring a few things into the bathroom with her and forgot to lock the door when she came back in. Standing there naked, in pain and bleeding I felt very vulnerable when another patient walked in, opening the door so whoever was in the corridor could see me. Sorry about the moans but apart from these small issues I couldn't fault my care at Medway Hospital throughout my pregnancy and birth. The staff here do an amazing job.
