"Long wait for small child at A + E"

About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

My 2 year old grand daughter suffered a head injury. I called NHS 24 who advised me to take her to A + E. They would fax the details across to speed things up.

After 1 1/2 hours we finally saw the Triage Nurse and we are now a further 1 1/2 hours later still waiting to see the Doctor. It is a disgrace that a young child with a head injury has to wait like this.

I am a big fan of the NHS but people's patience is wearing thin. NHS Fife need to sort this mess out now.

Dear "Worried Grandfather"

Thank you for taking the time to share the experience you had when you recently had to take your grand daughter to the A/E Department. This must have been a worrying time for you.

Normally patients are triaged promptly following arrival; however as this did not happen I would be keen to speak to you directly to get some more information from you.

If you would like to contact me please do so using the details below.

I do hope your grand daughter is now recovering well

Regards

Louise Ewing
