It has now been a couple of months since I had my gallbladder removed by keyhole surgery at Louth Hospital. Everyone always likes to criticise when things don’t go to plan but this is quite the opposite, I would like to thank the whole team at Louth for the care and attention I received. Everyone at the hospital was kind and caring. The staff in pre-assessment were great on the phone when I called pre-op with a couple of questions/concerns – they were able to answer my questions and when they were only 99% sure on an answer, they called me back to reassure me everything was okay once they had double checked. On the day of the operation I was incredibly nervous due to my mum having had the same procedure a few years back and it went terribly wrong. My nurse was in training but again, made me feel at ease and was kind and caring throughout. The whole team from the cleaners, the porter who took me to my car, the nurses on the ward, the theatre staff , the staff in recovery when I came round from the op made sure I was pain free – they are all an asset to your hospital. I was checked on numerous times after the operation which was reassuring. I felt like everything went worked like clock-work – how it should be in an ideal world. I’d like to thank the surgeon for calling me after a couple of days to check I was doing well – this was really appreciated. Louth is a great hospital and I would highly recommend, it was kept very clean and not overcrowded. Since the operation I have been really well – I no longer take any medication and so far have had no problems at all. My scars are small and neat and I am so glad I no longer suffer with the pain I’d had for nearly 2 years.
