Was sent to S.A.U from clinic where I'd been seen by my consultant, waited just on 2 hrs in clinic for a porter to come and collect me, arrived at ward and was checked in, was asked to do a water sample only to then hear my name being bellowed along the ward by the nurse testing my water that they would have to do my bm as my water was showing glucose...........at which point I called the nurse and told her my water would show glucose as I'm diabetic, I would of thought that nursing staff would of known this as it surely would be in my notes! Then came the blood tests, after 3 attempts from 1st nurse, then 3 from 2nd nurse along came 3rd nurse who after a few attempts managed to get just enough to do the test, I had to keep asking the 1st nurse not to forget my bloods needed doing they'd just say oh yes but not come back or send anyone to do them, drs were lovely and explained what was going on and what they were going to do, no nurse came to see if I was ok or whether I needed any pain relief even though I'd been sent to ward with bad pain, after A few hrs I managed to catch the attention of a nurse that had come to give a message to another patient and asked for some pain relief, I'd had nothing to eat for 24hrs and when dr came she said she wanted me to try and eat and drink, waited to catch a glance of a passing nurse and ask for a sandwich and a drink and was given that, in the hours I spent on the ward no jug of water was offered and because I'm not gobby I could of quite easily of been left to rot! It seemed like the louder you were the better care you got, the nurse who discharged me was lovely and I only wish I'd got her name because this is how nurses should conduct themselves, totally under staffed nursing wise and because of this patients are left without much in the way of nursing care.
