"Cardiac MRI scan - excellent experience"

There is a lot of criticism of the NHS in the press at the moment and I have had some very poor experiences in NHS hospitals in the last couple of years but I feel the need to give credit where credit is due. My experience attending st Mary's for a cardiac MRI scan was exemplary in every way and every member of staff involved was professional, friendly, helpful and patient-focussed. When I could not make my original appointment due to my work schedule I was phoned promptly by a lady who went out of her way to secure me a convenient appointment quickly. The information received before the appointment was excellent including directions to get to the department once in the hospital (very useful as the large London hospitals can be tricky to navigate). The receptionist was friendly and attentive to whether the patients in the waiting area needed any help. The department was very clean and laid out in a welcoming way. The staff who conducted my scan were really professional, competent, efficient and reassuring. When I explained I'd had a very painful previous experience with a contrast dye injection they immediately arranged local anaesthetic for me and acted like it was no trouble (probably not the case). It was a pleasure to be treated as an individual there to be given the best possible care and not just to feel as if I was being processed through the system. Very impressed by this department.
