"Admission from A & E for suspected heart attack"

About: Harrogate District Hospital

Our Dad was admitted from A & E with a suspected heart attack. We waited until 10:30 pm to see a doctor but ended up leaving without speaking to anyone. The Doctor came to see my Dad at 5:30 the next evening and it was decided that they were going to send him to York as a scan had revealed that the vessel on the left side of his neck was blocked and that he needed surgery to open it up. We were told that they were waiting for a bed to be got ready at York and it would be in the next couple of hours.. The bed became available at 9pm and then we had to wait for an ambulance which arrived at 10:15. We were then taken to York District hospital and a doctor finally came to see Dad at 12:30pm. Nobody seemed to know why he was and the nurse who was in charge of him was difficult to understand her. (language). The Doctor said that my dad would be having his operation in the next couple of days. We were then phoned in the morning by the Doctor saying that he didn't know why my Dad had been sent there and that he wasn't going to do the operation and mentioned that there was a high morality in older patients. We had been told by Harrogate hospital that the operation was more beneficial in Elderly patients? Dad is extremely traumatised by all this and is very frightened now as he thinks that he is going to have another episode like the previous 2 time, because he hasn't had the treatment that he was told he needed to stop this happening again.
