"Autistic son had an MRI"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

My son had an MRI at Sunderland Royal. My son has autism and I was very worried about his appointment. I telephoned before hand and was given lots of reassurance from the MRI secretaries regarding what he could and couldn't take into his appointment. On the day of his appointment the staff were so wonderful towards my son. They really put him at ease and gave him time to process what they were asking him to do. During the scan at several times the staff stopped to check that he was managing and was okay. They gave him loads of praise when he finished as well as a sticker and a certificate for being so brave. I would like to say a big thanks for being so kind and thoughtful towards my son you made a very worrying time much more relaxed.
