Stay was very mixed. Care - depended on staff on duty from being very poor to excellent. Overall the HCAs were excellent and staff nurses more interested and focused on being task not patient oriented. An example mattresses on beds being replaced on ward. I was about to be wheeled to CT staff nurse then wanted me in chair so my mattress could be changed! She'd was totally stressed and the HCAS had to remind her I was on bed for purpose. In end the HCA sorted and issue resolved. I was made to feel like inconvenience. Food was awful apart from salad which I couldn't eat during two week stay everyday. In end I survived on snack packs. The cleaner / food server was kind caring and just wonderful. She had only been in the Trust a few weeks. If no bed available please place patients in recovery in a bed and not leave on theatre trolley over six hours! There was underlying tensions between ward and other Depts witnessed holding vacant beds instead if accepting patients from A and E and Theatres. Discharge was hurried and not planned. Went from not being able to walk or self caring to being deemed fit and discharged in space of a few hours ! Clearly pressure of beds took priority over patient care and safety. I could continue but this should give folk thought for concern and areas to remedy.
