"Fantastic care"

About: Guy's Hospital

I came to Guy's from Cornwall for a pretty big orthopaedic operation and was terrified! As soon as I arrived at the Surgical Admissions Lounge I was put at ease by the staff. I saw everybody involved in my operation and all of mine and my parent's questions were answered and didn't feel rushed. By 8:20 I was ready and headed off to theatre. The surgeon phoned my parents once the operation was completed to let them know that it had all gone well (this has never happened before in any other hospital). I woke up in recovery an hour and a half after the op was finished in no pain at all! The 2 nurses that I saw were both lovely and chatted away whilst doing their observations. My parents were phoned again so they knew that I had woken up. I was taken to Sarah Ward and the fantastic care continued. Every member of staff that cared for me was brilliant, I have absolutely no complaints at all. The food was good, the ward was clean and staff were second to none. Everybody seemed to go above and beyond what I would have ever expected from them. This is by far the best hospital I have ever been in and if it wasn't so far from home I would be more than happy to return for any other ops I may have...the 8.5 hour journey is a bit of a nightmare though!!
