My husband was admitted to the Urology Dept. He was not kept well informed by the doctors after ct scan and other tests. They said they would speak to him, but never did. His discharge letter contained a devastating diagnosis which had not been explained to him fully at the hospital. The lyphedema nurse did not turn up on his last day. Bad communication all round. All in all a bad experience, staff don't speak to each other and the doctors and consultants appear to have a very arrogant attitude towards their patients.

We are very sorry to hear about your husband's poor experience in urology, we sincerely apologise that we failed to communicate effectively with you at such an important time. This is clearly a very stressful time for you both and as you rightly point out it was important that you received the information about the test results in a clear and timely manner with full opportunity to discuss. When promised access to the nurse specialist it is not acceptable that this did not take place without full explanation. We have shared your comments with the managers for this service who will ensure that staff hear about the impact of their poor communication.
