I have a long term back problem and, through pain, I collapsed in a supermarket and couldn't get up again. The staff there called me an ambulance (I understand why but I was very embarrassed) and the crew arrived really quickly. From the moment they approached me they were friendly yet professional & they put me at ease instantly.
The crew were a lady with long dark haired, tied back in a ponytail (she was the driver) and a guy with short grey hair (he was the paramedic). This took place at around midday on Friday May 2nd in Asda.
They ascertained what was happening very quickly and I was really made to feel like I was in control of the situation. My opinion was sought & valued, I was spoken to at an appropriate level (neither over my head nor patronising) and they even managed to get me laughing, despite being in a lot of pain. I felt awful wasting the time of an ambulance, because this was an exacerbation of an LTC, I wasn't dying. The team were lovely and both reassured me that I wasn't wasting anyone's time, which was really kind. They made sure I was as comfortable as possible and I was really impressed with the paramedic's knowledge & approach.
I'd like to say thank you to them both for a fantastic service and a very warm and kind attitude. I could not have asked for better - thank you to you both xx
