I was taken into a&e on Sunday night due to being in extreme pain due to a slipped disc. The staff in a&e were great, both doctors and nurses. I was then taken to eau and again nursing staff great. Doctor I saw was not so great, just said would need to speak to my gp about stronger pain relief until had my caudal epidural which was booked in for 9th July. went home and spent the whole of Monday in extreme agony, can't describe how bad the pain was. Could not even get out of bed to get to loo or sit up to have food or drink. Monday evening back to hospital by ambulance, ambulance staff fantastic and the sister on eau fantastic. was admitted and taken to ward. Again nursing staff were excellent. Had Dr see me Tuesday am who said they were going to do epidural that day and that was it. He did not explain what was, what was being injected, how it works or anything. Was taken to theatre just after lunch time and came round then went back onto the ward. when asked if could go home that evening was told I could. Just after 8 a nurse told me that there was no doctor available to see me but could go home and they would send discharge letter in the post. Was given on instruction as to what medication should take, what to expect from epidural and had no opportunity to ask any questions and just told would have a follow up appointment in 6 weeks. now Fri and still no discharge letter. I am still in pain and have no idea whether this is normal or what. Tried calling the secretary but she is on leave. Then called and spoke to sister on ward. She was supposed I was sent home without seeing Dr first and with no mediation. She said that was in my notes that had seen a physio but at no time was I seem by a physiotherapist. She said ward was not orthopedic so she could not help with questions but she would investigate and give me a call back. Funnily enough no call back. I understand hospital is busy but been left clueless to what is going on. Still in pain and worried it's not right but don't know. Scared going to end up in agony again and due to go on holiday beginning or sept and worried won't make it. Just would have been good to have spoken to doctor and now left concerned and worried and probably 6 week wait till can get some answers. Not good enough
