"The quality of treatment is excellent, the care is..."

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

I was treated in Urgent Gyne for suspected miscarriage on several occasion and the quality of the treatment I was given was excellent. However the care and respect for me as a patient was lacking. I was treated by a trainee on each of my 5 visit, (a different one each time) and the trainees were so focused on the teaching they were being given they failed to make any contact with me. I was being scanned internally and the trainee Dr turned to her teacher and said, I can't get a picture of the ovary "the leg is in the way", she was not corrected. Eye contact is rare, and explanations from the Trainees are rushed and garbled, the teacher did not intervene or explain after.

Thank you for your very kind comments regarding your treatment in the Gynaecology department at the John Radcliffe Hospital. It is always nice for the Trust to hear when things go well and I am very pleased that you received excellent medical treatment. I am very sorry that there was a lack of care and respect toward you from the staff. Your feedback will be passed on to the manager responsible for the gynaecology service. Should you wish to contact the Trust directly with any further comments or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01865 221473 or at palsjr@ouh.nhs.uk and a PALS Officer will be happy to help.
