"Ante-natal care at Birth Centre"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Maternity

I am 35+3 weeks and wanted to leave a review to say how pleased I am with the care I've received from CUH Maternity Services so far. I had a meeting yesterday with one of the supervisors of midwives at the hospital to confirm that I could use the birth centre despite my age (over 40). She reviewed my notes and birth plan with me, went through the protocols they would follow in various scenarios such as induction, breech birth etc, introduced me to some of the midwives, and asked one of them to do a full antenatal check (given I'd already had one by the community midwife this week, I found this really welcome. I felt that the choices I and my husband had made about the birth were being respected and that our taking responsibility for our choices was welcomed rather than scorned. I've been into triage a couple of times due to reduced foetal movement - each time we were seen quickly and made to feel like we'd done the right thing in coming in, rather than wasting staff time. Everyone I have met in Maternity and Antenatal at CUH has been friendly, professional and committed to what I can only call excellent customer service and making sure that I was comfortable and happy. I left the birth centre yesterday feeling very happy that I'd picked CUH as the place to have my baby and I am really hoping that everything goes smoothly in a few weeks' time so that I can use the lovely birth centre rooms and pools.
