"Parking at Rotherham too expensive"

The best thing about my treatment by the hospital was that I did not have to wait as I was seen right on time. Although I found parking charges too expensive and finding a space was hard. Furthermore, I had to wait much longer for my results than I was told

Thank you for taking time to post your comments on this website and I am pleased to read that you did not have to wait long for your treatment here at Rotherham General Hospital.

It is however disappointing to read of your concerns surrounding car parking which is a contentious issue at any hospital. Here at Rotherham we took the decision that we needed to ensure patients are able to park as easily as possible whilst providing a safe and secure environment. In order to put this in place along with a number of improvements, we need to make a charge for parking.

Income gained from parking has been used to pay for additional security around the site i.e. Security patrols, additional CCTV cameras and includes the complete renewal of all external lighting. We feel, in retrospect that patient parking, charged at a maximum rate of £6.50 per day, or £1.60 for 2 hours, £2.10 for 2 - 4 hours is appropriate and is comparable with other hospitals in the surrounding area.

Whilst parking at the hospital has improved with the development of staff parking in other areas of the grounds, we appreciate that it can still be difficult to park at busy times and this is something the Trust is continually trying to improve.

Although it is difficult to comment without specific details regarding the waiting time for your results, I am sorry that this took longer than you were advised.
