"Treatment of my son and I on Saturday 21st June"

About: Honiton Hospital

My 5 month old son and I were involved in a RTA on Saturday, following a rear impact accident; you can imagine although I knew my baby wasn't injured, I was still an anxious mother. The receptionist was wonderful; she was softly spoken, had a gentle approach and was an excellent communicator, as was her colleague, the hospital driver. I immediately felt reassured and 'cared for'. The nurse practitoners were professional and caring from the outset; they both performed a detailed neurological and clinical examination of my son and I and explained their findings and conclusions clearly and thoroughly. The clinical practice of ensuring all under one's are reviewed and discharged by a Dr is to be commended and this completely reassured me entirely; the medical practitioner had the type of bedside manner and approach with a 5 month old that we all grew up with when we all had avuncular GPs who came out to do home visits when we were poorly as children. From beginning to end I cannot praise highly enough the clinical care and patient communication at Honiton Hospital Treatment Centre. Throughout our journey all staff communicated the next steps for my son and I and apologised for the waiting time (only 10 minutes)! Every member of the team, from the superb receptionist to the clinical staff is a patient experience role model and champion and I would like to nominate each of them is the North Devon Staff Awards system. I looked for a Friends and Family Test leaflet in the waiting room, so I could do an FFT in real time, which I didn't see, but definitely would give an extremely likely to recommend - the team were excellent - really well done. As a Chief Nurse myself in Essex and ex-Consultant Nurse in Emergency and Urgent Care, I wouldn't hesitate to employ any of these staff.
