"Removal of cyst at DRI"

On 24/12/08 I had an appointment with my GP. She examined my groin and explained to me that I had a cyst which was weeping. She then referred me to the DRI.

At the DRI, my groin was examined and then, after taking my clothes off, I was given a gown and surgical stockings. The staff were 100%. The anaesthetist saw me and he said that it could be anytime during the day when I would be seen.

At 8pm a staff nurse came to me and told me that I would not be going to theatre that day. She then gave me something to eat. The following morning I was given a small drink and some tablets. The head consultant then came to see me and said that the surgery could be done sometime that day. I then asked him 'would you have liked to have waited this long?'. I appreciate that there are other urgent cases, but is my case also not urgent?

After finally having the operation, I was allowed to go home and since then a district nurse has visited me daily and has changed my dressings for me.

Since the 5th January '09, I have been attending my GP surgery for my dressings to be changed.

By the 9th, the wound healed and no more treatment is necessary.
