"My step dads care in the renal ward."

About: Havering Queen's Hospital / Accident & emergency The Royal London Hospital / Nephrology

(as a relative),

My step dad was transferred from Queens Hospital Intensive Care Unit on a weekend to High Dependency Renal at The Royal London. On discharge 12 days later (even although his letter info stated a specific date which was incorrect) there was no evidence of any care plan for his return home.

My deaf mother raised her concerns in written form with the consultant who said he shared these concerns.

My mum was identified as the primary carer but it was noted how she struggled before he went in and concerns were raised seeing as my step dad was even further limited in his mobility.

In hospital he saw physios a couple of times who confirmed his limitations. Since coming home he has been bed bound with no follow up from the doctors or hospital.

I have personally phoned around exploring numerous avenues. We are still trying to work out how we get help and how it was acceptable to let him return home with absolutely no care plan for ensuring they could cope.
