I went in for a simple, day case op. I ended up having a bad reaction and staying in for scans, tests, specialists etc. Staff acted quickly and calmly, always offering reassurance and a friendly smile. I found that even when staff were stretched to their limits they would try their utmost to meet my needs as quickly as they possibly could. Unlike some, I am fully aware that a hospital visit isn't a hotel stay; that there are indeed hundreds of other patients staying under one roof, most of whom need far more attention than I did. There were times I had to wait a little for pain relief or a meal or assistance, times I was woken up by another patient. But I never felt alone. When I was ill, when I was scared, when I didn't know what was happening to me - they were there. With a smile, a hand, a reassuring comment, a gentle touch. The cleaners, volunteers, housekeepers, Doctor's, Nursing Assistant's & Nurses. Thank you to all those who cared for me so so well at East Surrey.
