About: Wexham Park Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The hospital were able to provide me with a very highly skilled surgeon who used the latest technology, a robotically assisted operation, which minimised discomfort, truama and infection, allowed me to leave hospital the day after, and most importantly enhanced the successful outcome of the operation - the removal of my prostate. The enthusiam, friendliness, and commitment of all staff involved - the Consultant and the Surgical Team and Ward 7 Urology in particular, and the value of the advice and assistance provided by the Advance Nurse Practitioner Uro-Oncology. Overall from initial diagnosis to being told that the cancer was confined to my prostate and successfully removed, my enduring impression is of a process that was well managed at every stage, I felt confident and reassured at all times, things moved quickly, and I was treated well by everyone I came in to contact with. I am aware that there is ongoing support available should I have any complications arising from the surgery. This helps make for a confident recovery.

What could be improved

A greater and wider recognition of the standard and range of services available and the high quality of care.

The Ward staff were going non stop and appeared to be short of staff. This did not adversley affect me but rather may be makes it a tough time for them if this is a regular occurrence.

Availabilty of car parking space.

Anything else?

A big thank to all those involved and to those people responsible for ensuring the provision of the services and their development.

It seems people find it easier to complain than celebrate success! It is great to share good news!
