"Very very disappointed"

About: East Surrey Hospital

This is my dad's fifth day at this hospital at the hazel wood ward in the endricronology department and somehow his sugar levels have still not been stabilized nor his bp levels. Within the five days his diabetic foot wound that has been oozing, the dressing has only been done twice. The vascular team came and saw him only once! In his entire time here, and took five minutes to give his verdict! Without before looking at his angiography images or x rays and without any dopplers or anything. The team of doctors are slow and haven't come to review my dad till we have asked again and again. Without any proper care and treatment we feel very neglected and feel the doctors don't even give time to discuss the patients treatment. We can't wait to self discharge and go somewhere patients are given more say and care The only thing good about the hospital is the friendly nursing staff and the free wifi.

Dear Anonymous

I have just read your comments about Hazelwood Ward and I have passed them on to both the Chief of Medicine and Senior Nurse. Please be assured that we will look at your comments and take appropriate action. Although they may be be able to easily identify which patient these comments refer to it would be helpful if you could e-mail me your father's details. My address is ian.mackenzie@sash.nhs.uk

Regards

Ian

I have spoken to the ward manager on Hazelwood ward and she has asked me to pass on the following response to you: “I am sorry to hear you were unhappy with the care your father received on Hazelwood ward. The ward matron and I have both looked at your father’s notes and I understand the medical team discussed his care with you and his family throughout his stay. If you still have unanswered questions I am more than happy to try and answer these. You can contact me by e mail at Leeanne.Hussey@sash.nhs.uk or phone 01737 768511 ext 2825, 2097 or 2096. Leeanne Hussey Ward Manager" Kind Regards, Bethan Borrett, Digital Communications Manager
