I was sent to pembury on advice from my gp, so they knew I was coming. I had suspected appendicitis, and the staff I met in the surgical assessment team were fantastic. I did arrive near handover time, but doctors came as quickly as they could so that I could up to a ward. I've never been to pembury before , so was impressed that I got my own room. They were happy for my husband to stay until I was settled, even though it was past visiting hours. They checked on me frequently, and ensured that my needs were met. Luckily, I did not have appendicitis but a nasty gastroenteritis bug. They made sure that the food they brought me was suitable, and their procedures for handling 'contaminated' patients was fantastic. Always wearing gloves and aprons on entering my room, and thorough hand washing as they left. The cleaner used a disposable mop head and was very thorough also. They were happy for me to go home once my abdominal pain had reduced. All staff were friendly and very kind to me. Thank you so much to the whole team.
