"Stroke Unit apathy"

I visited my mother who was admitted to the Stroke Unit on 18/6/2014, I arrived at her Side Room at 8:05 and she was in the en suite, she told me she had been buzzing for help for 10 minutes, I had heard the buzzer as I walked down to her room. I asked if someone could assist - my mother is modest and did not want me to lift her off the toilet and help her into a chair. I was met by an arrogant brush-off, not the professional response I had hoped for. I then waited a little longer before asking for a sheet of paper and a pen, I was offered the paper but nobody had a pen to lend - I asked if the shop was still open, but it was not - I eventually borrowed a pen and wrote down the date, time and the name of the duty staff. Eventually a very helpful nurse found a colleague to assist, this was at 8:20. It is not acceptable for an old lady to be left for so long on a toilet waiting for a little help. I hope the staff concerned manage to read this review to learn how poor the level of patient care was tonight.
