"Doctors are letting this place down"

My dad took me to A&E after suffering severe abdominal pain and extreme bleeding from my back end and I was seen fairly quickly. The A&E doctors and nurses were fantastic, and had a lot of sympathy for my condition and were shocked to see the state I was in. I was admitted to hospital and admitted to SAU which was one of the worst experiences of my life. A junior doctor came in with a staff nurse while I was sleeping after I had just been sent up from A&E at 5AM and said he wanted to examine me, which I allowed. He then rammed an enema into me, without consulting me first, while I was screaming in pain and shouting for him to stop due to the area being extremely sore and painful. I was sent for scans which revealed I was severely faecally impacted. I was moved from ward to ward for around a week (I must have been on at least 7 different wards throughout my stay) which meant that none of the nursing staff or doctors were communicating properly and I could never get a clear or definite answer. My friends came to visit me in hospital and said they couldn't believe how frail, exhausted and jaundiced I had become and the weight fell off me. My face had sunken in and my skin had started to turn a funny pale colour and I thought I was going to die I was in so much pain. I looked completely different. A consultant came on one of his "morning rounds" to my bed where I laid there in soiled bedding with a leakage pad crying my eyes out because I was in so much agony and nobody wanted to listen to me and he said "Just give him another enema and send him on his way" to the nursing staff and then looked at me and said "You've had your moneys worth lets have you out" and walked off making me feel like something he'd stepped in. With the series of enemas that followed, I was so impacted that I started to become depressed. He eventually decided to give me a full surgical evacuation after many pleas for help and after the nursing staff suggested it and I was released from hospital the next day after my operation. I was then back in A&E again with the same problem. However, this time a much nicer consultant had me back out within a couple of days. I then visited A&E again and was given an enema there and then and was sent back on my way. I am now fully recovered and have gone back to my normal healthy body weight and have had no problems since thankfully. I have a lot to thank the nursing staff on A&E for, they were so kind and gentle and had so much sympathy for me. A nurse in A&E showered me because she saw how fragile and ill I was and was so loving I wanted to cry after the treatment of some of the other nursing staff and doctors. I know there is good and bad in all hospitals, and believe me most of the staff there deserve a lot of recognition because they are fantastic, but a minority do spoil it for the rest.
