I am writing to review my visits to RSCH both as a day admission patient for key hole surgery in March to remove my gallbladder, and a subsequent test in the Endoscopy unit today. I am really grateful for the quality of care and compassion I experienced on both occasions. Prior to the key hole surgery I had never had much to do with hospitals and was really very anxious. The nursing staff, consultants and anaesthetists were very patient and reassuring, answered all my questions and helped me to remain calm – or as calm as I was ever going to be! I was really struck by how kind everyone I met was, making an effort to reassure me as an individual when they see so many patients on any given day. Likewise in the Endoscopy unit today I was extremely anxious about what isn’t a fun procedure – I was reassured at every point so was clear what to expect, and the nurses and consultant were very patient. It has all felt very human and I’m immensely grateful to everyone for their care and compassion. *Thank You*.
