"DRI - child birth"

Laboured normally in the pool and then the midwives changed shift, new midwife immediately took me out of the pool and made me, whilst still wet, start pushing on the bed. A monitor was applied and I wasn't allowed to move position, all pain was in my bum (back to back) I was really upset and in lots of pain but midwife ignored me and sat and did notes. I was offered gas and air but this was no longer effective. I was offered no other help.

They catheterised me without warning which was painful and humiliating. Midwife refused to get a doctor (taken from pool at 8 pm) still not got dried or changed from Bikini top. Told to keep pushing as the doctor would never come until I had been pushing over an hour. I had no urge to push. Just pain.

One of the midwifes team then aggressively put a drip in my hand. Whenever it started to come out, she rammed it back in. During the night (I had been in labour over 24hours) I begged them to get the doctor.

The doctor arrived and said I would never be able to give birth without help. Forceps were used without a nerve block other than local anaesthesia to numb the epesiotomy. My daughter was born whilst I was upside down loosing blood. After birth my shower did not work so I had to use the shower down the hall. I advised the midwife that I felt terrible and sick and she just replied saying that infection will do that, you might be sick a few times and then get over it.

My husband helped me shower and the midwife advised him he would have to clean up the shower where I had bled. I will never ever use this hospital ever again and I still have issues due to the birth. It was horrific and my care was appalling. It's put me off giving a normal birth again, I have now requested my notes twice from the hospital and filled in the paper work and received nothing back.
