During a return visit to my home city on 7th June I had to be rushed into the Royal Liverpool A& E having suffered a seizure in my hotel. Firstly my wife and I would like to record our thanks for the immediate treatment and help we received from the North West Ambulance Service - both first response paramedic and the ambulance crew. I have very little memory of this but the support they gave my wife throughout was impeccable and helped her to cope with this. On arrival at the Royal on a very busy Saturday night we were seen immediately and throughout our long stay in the A & E department we were treated with the utmost kindness and concern. We felt we were fully involved in all decisions and we were kept fully up to date on what was being done for me. All the medical staff we came into contact with can only be described as exemplars of a first rate emergency service provided with kindness and sympathy. We were fully involved in all decisions being made as to my care and had everything fully explained in a way we could understand and come to terms with what had happened to me. The NHS is said to be the envy of the world and following the treatment and kindness shown to us during our visit to the Royal this is still very much the case. You could not dream of getting better treatment or to receive the warm human kindness that we received from the staff of the ambulance service and the Royal Liverpool A & E department they are a credit to their profession and to the NHS. A simple thank you does not seem enough but it is meant from the bottom of our hearts
