About: Newcastle Dental Hospital

I would like to say in reply to your comment, that after I had visited the hospital, I made an emergency appointment at my own local dental practice the same day. There I was prescribed amoxicillin 500s and informed that I had a bad infection over the site! Someone, somewhere is not doing their job adequately!

Thank you for providing an update regarding your situation. The decision to prescribe antibiotics or not is one which is taken by the healthcare professional at the time that they assess the patient. The dentist who assessed you at the Dental Hospital did not feel that prescribing antibiotics was clinically justified at that time although your own dentist did differently following your recent attendance. We would like to apologise if this different course of action causes you concern but please be assured that the clinicians involved will be using their judgment and expertise as to the best course of treatment for you. We do hope that the pain you were experiencing has improved and would like to apologise again if you felt that the care that you received in the Dental Hospital did not meet your expectations. Your feedback has been passed onto the management team in the Dental Hospital.
